Education

Ms. Thompson graduated magna cum laude from Mercer University in Macon in 1983 with a B.B.A. in Finance and English, then earned a Juris Doctor from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University in 1986.  In law school, she was selected for the National Moot Court Team and included in “Who’s Who of American Law Students.”   She is also a member of Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity.

Legal Affiliations

Ms. Thompson has served as President of the Savannah Bar Association’s Younger Lawyers Division and on the Board of Directors for the Savannah Bar Association.  She is currently Chair of the Savannah Bar’s Real Estate Section. Ms. Thompson has served on the Executive Committee of the Real Property Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia, as well as the Board of Directors of the Georgia Real Estate Closing Attorneys Association.  Ms. Thompson was the district representative for the Younger Lawyers Section of the State Bar of Georgia, during which time she received the Commitment to the Younger Lawyers Section Award. She was the President of the Macon Bar Association.

Professional Affiliations

Ms. Thompson is currently a member of the Savannah Bar Association, Savannah Board of Realtors, Women’s Council of Realtors, Young Council of Realtors, Mortgage Bankers Association of Savannah, National Association of Women in Construction, and the Georgia Association of Women Lawyers-Savannah.  She is on the Board of Directors for the Women’s Council of Realtors, Young Council of Realtors and Mortgage Bankers Association of Savannah.  She has been named the Savannah Board of Realtors’ Affiliate of the Year, Women’s Council of Realtors (Macon) Affiliate Member of the Year, and Young Council of Realtors (Savannah) Affiliate of the Year.

Civic Affiliations

Ms. Thompson served as President of the Board of the Coastal Children’s Advocacy Center, which named her the Philanthropist of the Year.  She was previously a member of the Savannah South Rotary Club and was also a 1996 graduate of Leadership Savannah.  She chaired the Public Affairs Committee of the Junior League of Savannah, and was on the Finance Committee for the Junior League of Macon.  She served on the Board of the Crescent House in Macon.   Ms. Thompson earned the Savannah Jaycees Distinguished Service Award, the Georgia Jaycees’ Five Outstanding Young Georgians Award and the Outstanding Volunteer Award for Neighborhood Housing Services.  Savannah television station WTOC named her a “Hometown Hero.”  She presently serves at Treasurer of Wymberley Garden Club, attends Isle of Hope Methodist Church, and is a member of Seeds and Weeds Garden Club.
